Medical Front Desk Receptionist (Full-Time)

$20.00 (minimum) per hour plus a $1,000 hiring bonus after 90 days

The posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU's compensation plan. RVU's full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

RVU offers a full benefits package that includes 401(k), Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee's contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

Primary Purpose

This position is responsible for greeting patients, check in, insurance verification, scanning/importing, medical records, answering the phone.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Greet patients at the front desk and verifying demographic and insurance information.
  2. Scan insurance card.
  3. Review all appropriate registration boxes to ensure all boxes are marked according to policy.
  4. Verify insurance information 1 day prior to appointment.
  5. Address any insurance issues with the patient prior to their arrival at the clinic.
  6. Collect copays and balances due.
  7. Monitor student shadow experience scheduling.
  8. Daily deposit.
  9. Complete the monthly on call attending physician scheduling with the attending physician and answering service.
  10. Mark missed appointments as no-shows.
  11. Ensure all new patient paperwork is completed and inputted into the computer.
  12. Complete all medical records requests within 5 business days of receipt.
  13. Scan and import all patient records into the charts weekly.
  14. Review and work task box daily for practice and medical records.
  15. Ability to multi-task.
  16. Answer the phones, schedule appointments and route calls appropriately.

Marginal Job Functions

  1. Assist in checking out patients.
  2. Direct patients on the referral process.
  3. Review accounts for balances if necessary.
  4. Block, create physician scheduling templates.
  5. Performing job responsibilities as part of the team, interact well with other members of the team.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Outstanding interpersonal skills.

  4. Ability to enter in data accurately with attention to detail.
  5. Strong computer skills and ability to learn a state of the art electronic medical records program.
  6. Ability to work with confidential medical records and maintain HIPAA policies and procedures.
  7. Ability to multi-task and problem solve innovatively.
  8. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  9. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  10. Willingness and ability to learn new skills as needed in the medical office environment.
  11. Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  12. Annual continuing medical education courses to ensure compliance and update to date knowledge on billing and coding.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School diploma
  2. Administrative assistant or equivalent coursework or at least relevant experience
  3. Experience in front medical office work

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience with primary care medical office (family medicine, pediatrics or internal medicine)
  2. Previous experience with electronic medical records
