The Central Copying Department at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Business Operations Manager (full-time, 12 month) position. Business Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining the financial processes and records of the assigned budgets to include budgetary reports and projections, processing of all required financial transactions, maintaining the department’s internal financial management systems, and the audit and reconciliation of department’s internal financial management systems records to the University’s records. Additionally, this position serves as the business operations manager for assigned services.

 Required Education: Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Working knowledge of effective methods for maintaining high accuracy and high volume of transactions.

 Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem-resolution techniques when serving diverse internal and external customers. Working knowledge of client server systems (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft or a similar program). Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to record and manipulate data and produce reports using word processing and spreadsheet software, especially the Microsoft Office Suite programs. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain electronic and paper filing systems. Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete tasks with limited direction or supervision. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial facts and figures. Demonstrated ability to prepare both cash and accrual-based management financial reports and analysis.

 Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of contractual management, practices, and procedures. Working knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia procurement regulations. Commonwealth of Virginia CCA certification.

Working knowledge of eVA. Working knowledge of Calero’s Pinnacle application. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Conditions of Employment: 40-hour work week Monday-Friday; Some evenings and weekends
