As a part of diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University’s Ancilla College seeks a Academic Student Success Coach/ Disability Accommodation Facilitator to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission.

Marian University Ancilla College is seeking and Academic Student Success Coach who serves as a member of the CASE (Center for Academic Success and Engagement) team and provides academic support to all Marian University students. It is the responsibility of the Student Success Coach to organize, Implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all aspects of academic support for student-athletes, 21st century Scholars, first generation college students, and the international students. This position also works collaboratively with many university offices and individuals, including: The Academic Student Success Coach will assist achieving the CASE goal of increasing first-year student retention, increasing grade point average for provisionally admitted students, and decreasing in number of first year students on probation during the second semester
The Personalized Learning Center (services for students with disabilities), Counseling and Consultations Services, Academic Engagement, Health Services, faculty advisor, and coaches.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Assists with the development, management and implementation the success coaching curriculum, including programs that address academic concern, personal concerns, and sense of belonging.
  • Utilizes a variety of techniques to support student success related to academic skills, transition to college, utilizing resources, navigating the college process, learning strategies, and time management.
  • Assists students in developing educational plans and strategies to support student success.
  • Monitor academic progress of Marian University student-athletes Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Assist student-athletes on probation with academic recovery plans Utilize a variety of techniques to support student success related to academic skills, transition to college, utilizing resources, navigating the college process, learning strategies, and time management.
  • Provide provisionally admitted students with academic action plans
  • Connect students with academic on-campus resources including: tutoring, supplemental instruction, advising, health service, and counseling and consultation services
  • Communicate regularly with Athletic Director and Head coaches regarding academic needs and programming for individual teams
  • Coordinate student-athlete orientation with members of the CASE team head coaches and athletic director
  • Create and implement assessment tools for student-athlete based on the institutional learning outcomes
  • Communicate issues of concern to the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Engagement, Athletic Director, and University administration
  • Keep accurate academic records, develop statistical analysis of academic success and challenges provide data and speak to the academic progress of student-athletes on and on-going basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, High Education, Student Affairs Counseling or Social Work preferred
  • Experience with advising and /or personal and academic coaching teaching advocacy career development and mentoring preferred.
