Vacancy Number: S-00904 Position Title: Human Resource Generalist II Classification Title: Department: Human Resources Employment Type: Full-Time Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office of Human Resources at Auburn University at Montgomery ( AUM ) is accepting applications for a full time Human Resource Generalist II. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Oversee payroll process procedures for the university, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all data entry.
  • Provide ongoing support and training on all relevant payroll policies and processes.
  • Serves as the university’s liaison to all matters pertaining to payroll, and serves as the point of contact to Auburn University HR and Payroll team members on all relevant matters.
  • Serves as the key content expert and leader of the University Payroll Collaboration Committee to ensure continuity and data integrity across every department and college relating to payroll and hiring processing practices and procedures, and serves as the primary point of contact for payroll matters.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to payroll practices, systems, and procedures and provides managers with analysis, projections, and trends.
  • Oversees the accuracy and timeliness of data entry for all payroll runs. Utilizes available reports to perform quality control reviews and identify discrepancies. Performs calculations and makes corrections to payroll entries.
  • Implements processes that ensure AUM Payroll Operations are accurate and compliant with all Federal and State laws.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will posses the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of advanced payroll processing practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of University payroll practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of acceptable supervisory practices.
  • Knowledge of Banner HR.
  • Knowledge of Kronos.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software including Excel and Smartsheet.
  • Skill in organizing files, data, and information accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner.
  • Ability to make decisions based on careful analysis and thoughtful judgement.
  • Ability to engage and serve customer base with a friendly and energetic attitude.
  • Ability to manage workload in a manner that ensures all timelines and deadlines are met.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify discrepancies, patterns, etc.
  • Ability to identify solutions to problems and discrepancies.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to develop written presentations.
  • Ability to present information to a group.
  • Ability to supervise.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, human resources, or related field required.
  • Two years of payroll or closely related experience, with preference given to experience in a higher education system.
