Under limited supervision of the Director of College Events, and the Associate Director of Alumni Relations & College Events, the Administrative/Event Assistant provides a wide range of duties to ensure the success of various projects, initiatives, and events for which the Office of Alumni Relations and College Events is responsible, including, but not limited to, Commencement, Friends of Skidmore Athletics Hall of Fame Benefit, Freirich Business Plan Competition, Palamountain Scholarship Benefit, President’s Society, Celebration Weekend, Reunion, Alumni Travel Program, JAWS, New Faculty & Staff Reception, Opening Convocation, Founders Day, Winter Celebration, annual Fox-Adler and Harder endowed lectures and associated receptions, refreshments, and dinners, Community Leaders Breakfast, and additional campus community events as they arise. This position is also responsible for the training and oversight of student workers in Alumni Relation and College Events.

Skills:
  • Proficiency in software applications including Word, Excel, and Publisher, ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to work independently; ability to interact with many different and diverse constituencies; ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality; ability to work well in a very fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment. Ability to present oneself professionally when representing Skidmore at events on and off-campus.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary in the position of Administrative/Event Assistant in an office that, with great activity and intensity, serves as a locus of communication for virtually all the constituent groups, both internal and external, which the College relies upon in order to have a thriving future.
  • The Administrative/Event Assistant interacts with virtually every internal and external office and group, including: other offices within Advancement; Admissions; President's Office; Facilities Services; Media Services; Leadership Activities; Dining Services; academic departments; current students; Trustees; alumni, donors, and friends; outside lecturers/speakers; faculty; staff; donors; members of the Saratoga community.
Minimum Qualifications:

1-2 years of secretarial, bookkeeping and word processing experience. High School diploma/College or Business degree.

Pay Range:

$23.30 - $24.50 per hour commensurate with experience. Internal candidates may fall outside of this range and should contact Nancy Bruno with any individual pay rate questions.
