Admission Data Administrator



Job Summary: The Data Administrator assists with maintaining the integrity of the Admissions Information Systems and is responsible for processing, storing, analyzing, and preparing data for output, and providing technical support to internal and external audiences. The Data Administrator's responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis of the admissions process to aid in data-driven decision making and planning. The position will develop analysis and reporting capabilities for the Office of Admission, while also developing quality control plans to identify improvements. Duties & Essential Job Functions: 1. Interprets data, analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports.
2. Collects and analyzes large datasets from external organizations and vendors that can be used to contribute to the student recruitment strategy.
3. Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
4. Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
5. Filters and “cleans” data by reviewing computer reports and results to locate and correct code problems.
6. Works with management to prioritize business and information needs.
7. Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities.
8. Creates, updates, and maintains student and organization records; manages and processes change requests related to the integrity of data and the database.
9. Tests and authenticates changes to the database, reports or other technical functions as required.
10. Identifies problems with the Admission module and provides written documentation of such problems for review.
11. Serves as the subject matter expert in data comparisons between PeopleSoft, SLATE, and other University systems and databases ensuring the data is in sync and has consistent data integrity; works with the Admissions Technology team to develop procedures for any inconsistencies.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience :

• Master's degree in technical field and 2 plus years' data analysis experience.

OR
•Bachelor's degree and 4 plus years' data analysis experience

OR
•High school diploma or GED and 8 plus years' data analysis experience

Preferred Education & Experience: • PhD in technical field with research related to analytics.
• 3 plus years of technical experience in a higher education environment. Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: • None Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training: • None Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of and technical expertise regarding data reporting, data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Knowledge of SLATE, PeopleSoft (or other CRM's, SIS's), Tableau, SPSS, MS Excel, MS Access, SQL for writing queries for extracting information out of databases.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc).
• Ability to use strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Skill in writing queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
• Ability to handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact and a keen eye for detail while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and work independently, or as part of a project team, to complete multiple tasks.
• Ability to identify potential process and workflow improvements.
• Ability to derive insight from large amounts of data from diverse sources.
• Ability to quickly learn new applications and equipment.
• Ability to train staff on best practices of data analysis in admissions systems (i.e., training on query and report building). • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs. Work Environment: • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
