Salary & Benefits:                     Starting Salary of $32,248.28 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule.  Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Classification:                            Full-time, Career Service, Pay Grade C3, Non-Exempt.

Nursing Programs is seeking a Support Specialist to oversee the daily operations of the Nursing Lab.  The Nursing Lab (NL) provides students within Nursing Programs practical opportunities to master essential nursing skills in a holistic, authentic, clinical-type setting.  .

The NL Support Specialist provides assistance, guidance and resources to students, faculty and staff using the Nursing Lab.  This position handles the general day to day administrative, clerical, and operational support of the Nursing Lab.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Provide support activities for the department such as answering telephones, assisting in the preparation for special events, scheduling appointments or assisting students, college employees and the public by responding to concerns/inquiries and providing some front-line level of resolution while making appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Communicate, collaborate and maintain relationships with internal and external community constituents.
  • Assist with management, maintenance, and usage of the Nursing Lab facilities (labs, computer carts, med carts and private rooms), coordinate and track lab usage, schedule lab for groups and individuals, and maintain up-to-date lab calendar.
  • Provide administrative support making travel arrangements, department purchasing, inventory, and requisitioning of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Reconcile department budget reports; compile and log supporting documentation records.
  • Provide tours of the Nursing Lab to students, faculty, staff and visitors.
  • May interview, hire, schedule and supervise the work of other employees.
  • Compile and track student records and data including books, test charts, evaluations, enrollment, registration, graduation, certifications, and accreditations.
  • Compile, distribute, track and log student surveys of Nursing faculty, clinical sites, and program exit questionnaires using Survey Monkey and other tools.
  • Provide students with eligibility, application and enrollment information about Nursing Programs as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of student and/or department records and other sensitive information.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair, Nursing Programs


Required:  High school diploma or equivalent and four years of related work experience or a combination of completed education and/or related work experience equal to four years.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to carry a minimum of 20 pounds. A criminal background check will be conducted.
