Job Summary:

The Operations Lead for the Just Research Educational Programs (workshops, seminars) will be an integral part of a growing program to promote diversity in science and researcher education within the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ITCR). Just Research is designed to build the skills of health researchers and research staff to ethically and authentically engage with communities typically underrepresented in research. Just Research is a collaboration between the Collaborative Center for Health Equity and the Center for Community Engagement and Health Partnerships in the School of Medicine and Public Health.

Responsibilities include providing administrative and organizational support for the Just Research Educational Programs, contributing to strategic planning and leadership, contributing to curriculum development, as well as facilitating communication and collaboration between key stakeholders and learners. This position will also include interaction, collaboration and support for other ICTR diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Responsibilities:

Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 25% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 25% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 5% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 5% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 15% Provides curriculum and program evaluation support, with program team

Qualifications:

Minimum Required Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
-Minimum of 2 years of project management experience (coordinating, facilitating, tracking and reporting the activities of a project or program)
-Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity, including experience working with diverse communities
-Exceptional interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and attentive listening.
-Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
-Demonstrated team-oriented work style that involves actively seeking input and viewing conflict as an opportunity to move the team forward

-Authentic interest in equity in science and health
-Experience with diversity and equity work
-Experience in academic, especially, academic medicine settings
-Experience with curriculum design, educational programs and evaluation
