Financial ERP/SaaS Systems Manager

Wesleyan’s Information Technology Services ( ITS ) is agile, energetic, and collaborative with dedicated support for professional development and staff creativity.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems, the IT and Financial Systems Manager is hands on position responsible for supporting and upgrading the Wesleyan Financials System ( WFS ). WFS currently runs on PeopleSoft and includes General Ledger, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Project and Grants Management and Cash Management applications. The Manager will need to prioritize day-to-day support and troubleshooting for WFS .

By the Summer of 2022, Wesleyan will have chosen between Workday and Oracle in the Cloud for our new Human Resources and Finance Systems.

The Manager will provide strategic technical leadership in collaboration with both Finance, HR, and the implementation teams to guide process development, change management and financial reporting.

The Manager will have direct supervisory responsibility for an Analyst Programmer.

Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Work with IT and campus colleagues to prioritize and set expectations for both current production support and project work.
  • Lead the Finance and Administration’s move to a SaaS financial system.
  • Lead project teams, assign action items to team members, follow up on project deadlines, and hold teams accountable.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and supervision and manage expectations of direct report(s). Collaboratively guide a combined team of finance, IT, and outside partners to assess business and functional needs, review potential solutions, and collaboratively implement and test the best alternative.
  • Collaboratively drive change management with Wesleyan and outside implementation partners through documentation, sign-off, and training.
  • Use Service Now ticketing systems to maintain and streamline Incident and Change maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned

This position offers a hybrid schedule which can include time in the office and working remotely or a 100% remote option will only be considered if you are living in a New England state (MA, VT, NH, ME, CT, RI) or NY.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience working in Finance Systems or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

An understanding of Finance operations and experience in Finance data management and reporting.
Experience with day-to-day Financial System support and problem-solving.
Expertise of Peoplesoft technology or like systems (Banner, SAP , etc.).
Multiple project life-cycle experiences including projects, major system migrations, or upgrades as both a contributor and leader.
Demonstrated skill in analyzing, understanding, and focusing on the most important aspects of business requirements.
Experience in supervising individuals and projects.
A demonstrated ability to problem-solve and collaborate across systems, projects, and departments.
A demonstrated ability to understand both WFS’s current and future technology, as well as institutional business goals.
A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents – including comfort in advising senior-level management.
A contributor and leader who defines their success through the success of their team.
Professional experience in the following: An object-oriented programming language, relational databases, and utilizing modern APIs ( REST / SOAP / XML - RPC ).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with a SaaS ERP such as Workday or Oracle in the Cloud Experience with HR and Benefits processing Master’s degree
Project Management Professional ( PMP ) Certification Experience with integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS)
