South Dakota State University (SDSU) Office of Human Resources (HR) is offering an exciting career opportunity as an HR Communications & Engagement Specialist. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to develop, deploy and maintain internal and external comprehensive, strategic and communications programs, to foster and enhance employee engagement, morale, and connectivity and to provide critical information to employees in a people-centered, timely, relevant, and impactful manner. This is a 12-month, 100%-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Director of Human Resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deploy internal and external comprehensive, strategic communications programs, recruitment advertisement/marketing, and employee engagement plans and opportunities. Organize information and opportunities into active campaigns centered around the University mission, core values, and strategic goals to support SDSU as an employer. Create and maintain communications including websites, newsletter, employee-facing email, and social media. Organize events and campaigns to engage employees in the campus community and raise awareness of State, university, and community opportunities to support employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree completed by first day of employment;
  • At least 1 year of communications, marketing, or related experience;
  • Experience in collaborating with team members and/or other departments, units, etc.; 
  • Demonstrated technology skills; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing;
  • Human Resources or advertising experience;
  • Experience in development and maintenance of websites, newsletters, or social media; and
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, create, collaborate, implement, and evaluate strategic and comprehensive communication, marketing and engagement plans, and campaigns.
