Join our community and experience Emerson College!

The Business of Creative Enterprises program at Emerson College seeks an Affiliated (Part-Time) Faculty Member for the Fundamentals of Business for the Creative Enterprises (BC205) course for the Fall 2022 semester that runs September 2 through December 16, 2022. There are two sections available - Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10:00-11:45 AM and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:45pm.

The department seeks candidates who can contribute to the excellence and diversity of the academic community through ongoing engagement with students both inside and outside of the classroom in addition to traditional creative accomplishment/research, teaching, and service.

This course is designed to allow students to consider the myriad external and internal factors driving contemporary business decisions. Topics include: pricing, supply and demand, the management of people, processes, resources, and organization; the globalization of business, the use of information systems to support business efforts; and basic concepts from marketing, sales, business ethics, law, accounting, and finance. The purpose of the course is to help students develop the ability to view the world through the lens of business, sharpen critical thinking and writing skills and use relevant tools to understand, analyze and evaluate contemporary events from ethical as well as financial perspectives.

Emerson College is committed to an active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity—in people, in the curriculum, in the co-curriculum, and in the College's intellectual, social, cultural, and geographical communities. Emerson endorses a framework of inclusive excellence, which recognizes that institutional excellence comes from fully engaging with diversity in all aspects of institutional activities. Emerson is committed to strengthening communities, including our workplace, by fostering the development of the intercultural competencies necessary for meaningful citizenship in an increasingly complex, pluralistic society.

The Business of Creative Enterprises program is among one of the first of its kind in the nation. They offer a BA degree and have many opportunities for community engagement through events like the annual BCE Conference. This program specifically hosts abroad programs in Sweden and Australia in addition to Emerson's already established presences in Los Angeles and the Netherlands.

Emerson College is the nation's only four-year institution dedicated exclusively to majors in communication and the arts in a liberal arts context; the BCE program gives students the freedom to explore within all those contexts and find the art of business in every corner of the creative industries Emerson specializes in.

Emerson's main campus is located in the center of the dynamic multicultural city of Boston. The college enrolls over 5,800 graduate and undergraduate students from more than 70 countries and all 50 states. The growing BCE Program currently has 285 undergraduates, and 20 graduate students (as of Fall 2022).
