REPORTS TO: Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management and Financial Aid

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a full-time Coordinator for Outreach and Digital Content to work with the Admissions and Financial Aid Department, located on its DC campus.

An integral member of the School’s enrollment management team, the Coordinator for Outreach and Digital Content grades provides support to the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management and Financial Aid and works closely with colleagues, students, parents, and other groups to promote the school. They will be an active member of the school community and must intimately understand its program and mission. They will help recruit prospective families, represent the school at admissions events on and off campus, develop and maintain relationships with schools and student-serving organizations across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, analyze and understand enrollment trends, and help create strategies and new solutions. This coordinator must work closely with the rest of the enrollment management team to advance the mission of Sidwell Friends.

Qualified candidates must possess exceptional organization, time management, and oral and written communication skills; a commitment to the practice of inclusivity and an appreciation of broad diversity; a personality that is enthusiastic, outgoing and warm, a desire to know and care for students and their well-being, and a strong work ethic. They must maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information, process and present data in a clear, focused manner. The best candidates must understand the goals of Friends education and independent schools and be able to articulate the unique aspects of our school to a diverse group of prospective families. They will have demonstrated a proven ability to cultivate relationships with internal and external constituents of Sidwell Friends and a desire to work diligently and strategically to grow that group.

BA + Candidates should have at least 2 years of admissions or related outreach or recruitment experience and candidates with strong knowledge of the DMV, its character, culture, and climate are highly preferred. Great candidates may also have backgrounds in advancement, education, marketing, or public relations.

Primary and Essential Duties:
  • Support the development of an outreach plan in accordance with the team’s goals
  • Represent the school at admissions events, both on and off campus
  • Advise prospective parents and students and their families of admission requirements, information about tuition and financial support
  • Plan with team opportunities for partnership with Communications office to support outreach
  • Work with assistant directors to enhance transition programming for students new to the school
  • Research the academic programs and learning cultures of potential sending schools and access organizations to support the school’s strategic enrollment goals
  • Manage outreach activities; create and respond to invitations to campus and other visits
  • Coordinate with other team members to assist with visits, welcome guests, build connections – this includes admissions staff, students, parents, coaches, faculty members
  • Attend school fairs, open houses
  • Interview families
  • Develop network of volunteers from our community willing to improve resources lists and contacts. This network will always include EJC coordinators and members of parent and student affinity groups.
  • Prepare progress updates for the team 3 times each season
  • Work with the PAAC to determine their season-long involvement; proactively plan with welcoming committee any helpful transitional steps
  • Connect regularly with the assistant directors to gather information for social media and other projects
  • As digital content coordinator, enable the team to improve its season-long planning and production of all digital content, such as blogs, social media, and website updates
  • Work with student ambassadors to track their suggested posts with Communications office
  • Participate in sharing information, successes, progress on outreach efforts
