Position Title: Director of Development, Medical Affairs & Alumni Relations - 006112

Division: Development and Alumni Relations

Department: 130400 - University Hospital Development

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and six years of experience in direct fundraising and/or alumni relations, two years of which were in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree is preferred.

Essential Functions: These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic and comprehensive development program for University Hospital, USA College of Medicine and the Medical Alumni Association; hires, trains, supervises and evaluates all development staff assigned to specified areas; manages the departmental budget; identifies, qualifies and manages a major gift portfolio; establishes and manages a development council for the University Hospital; manages the board of directors for the Medical Alumni Association and provides direct oversight to their checking and savings accounts and tax filings to maintain non-profit compliance; works with the College of Medicine Alumni Office to develop plans to maximize alumni engagement including annual reunion weekend; participates in donor stewardship as managed by the Advanced Services Office; assists volunteers with prospect cultivation and solicitation; responsible for strategic planning and administrative oversight of fundraising events and corresponding volunteer management including but not limited to the University Hospital's signature event, A Night Honoring Heroes, Crawfish for a Cause and the College of Medicine's Gumbo Chili Cookoff; provides detailed input into an annual fund and grateful patient program for the University Hospital and membership drive for the MAA ; attends regular meetings with deans and other administrators as appropriate; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
