The Department of Economics and Business at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Accounting, starting August 1, 2023.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and have a desire to join an interdisciplinary department.  They will teach financial accounting, managerial accounting, and upper-level electives that reflect the candidate’s interest and expertise. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester. Performance is evaluated based on four domains: 1) teaching, 2) scholarly engagement, 3) professional citizenship, and 4) student development (e.g., academic advising, mentoring undergraduate research).

 

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have been awarded a doctorate or be currently ABD in Accounting or a closely related discipline and have a research agenda related to Accounting or Accounting pedagogy.  (Doctorate completed by August 1, 2023)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification(s) and/or professional experience in Accounting.

Please include a cover letter, curriculum vita, copies of graduate transcripts, and teaching evaluations (if available).  In the cover letter, applicants should discuss how they design and teach their courses, providing examples and details as appropriate. Finalists will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
