The Department of Communication at FDU’s Florham Campus is seeking a well-rounded and flexible faculty member to fill a Lecturer line. This individual will teach courses for the popular BA in Communication and an established MA Program in Communication. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and advising, teaching effectiveness, and service. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position subject to annual renewal based on enrollment needs and performance.
The teaching load is four courses per semester. The applicant will be expected to teach required and elective undergraduate courses in journalism and digital media, including Introduction to Journalism, Multimedia Journalism, and Media Ethics, as well as regularly offered General Education courses such as Communication in Everyday Life and Professional Communications. The applicant would be required to help coordinate the department’s concentration in Multimedia Journalism. Other teaching responsibilities may include Introduction to Human Communication, Mass Communication, and/or International Communication, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications. The applicant will also be given the opportunity to develop and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialty. Required Qualifications:
An MA in journalism or related field and appropriate professional and/or teaching experience is required. Knowledge of and experience with writing for broadcast, social media, podcasting, and other non-traditional fields are desirable.
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
