The American University of Beirut (AUB) Faculty of Medicine (FM) and Medical Center (AUBMC) are seeking a recognized academic leader for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Internal Medicine.

For more than 155 years, the Department of Internal Medicine has been providing superior patient care, excellent general medical education with post-graduate residency/fellowship training, and cutting-edge clinical and translational research in a highly acclaimed and deeply-rooted academic environment.

Currently, the Department of Internal Medicine is composed of around 75 faculty members in nine Divisions: Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology; Cardiology; Endocrinology & Metabolism; Gastroenterology & Hepatology; General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics; Hematology-Oncology; Infectious Diseases; Nephrology & Hypertension; and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine; offering a valued record and respected recognition in quality patient care and clinical service in their area of specialty. Faculty members also contribute to research, in addition to teaching and mentoring within the MD Program, Internal Medicine Residency Program (accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education - International ‘ACGME-I’), and eight departmental Fellowship Programs.

The candidate for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Internal Medicine must be an exceptionally qualified professional with strong management and leadership abilities. Required qualifications include: an outstanding record in academic achievement, clinical excellence, and research and training in Medicine; qualification for academic appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor; and leadership skills with experience in administrative management and program development.
