Job Summary

The Facilities Management Department is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Supervisor for Transportation and Receiving. The Transportation Department provides 18 hours per day, five days a week of services to three university campuses. This campus bus services includes three fixed routes, bus charters, event services, and disability services support. Responsible for the daily scheduling and completion of transportation work orders for various departments. Responsible for the assigning of duties and work schedules for all assigned unionized employees.

The normal working hours for this position are weekdays from 10AM to 7PM.

Essential Functions
  • Safety - Assure compliance with regulations and guidelines. Monitor safety procedures that are in place to reduce the possibility of on-the-job injuries and accidents.
  • Transportation - Support the management of the campus transportation services for all three campuses. Follow the US Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulation for the Commercial drivers and commercial buses. Schedules drivers and vehicles for an average of 400 bus charters a year.
  • Fleet Maintenance - Ensure that commercial vehicles are maintained within the Federal and state DOT regulations, which includes Facilities Management vehicle fleet and maintenance & grounds department equipment. This includes supervising (4) class A auto mechanics.
  • Shipping & Receiving - Manage and account for the delivery of all University packages and bulk materials which requires immediate delivery by the unionized workforce.
  • Equipment and Materials - Schedule and assign employees on site to repair equipment and materials for daily operation of custodial and grounds equipment. Accountable for the quick repair of all service vehicles assigned to maintenance and mechanical services employees.
  • Observe driving and work habits of employees in the field. Investigate and resolve passenger and driver complaints. Address issues for the disabled, elderly, and others with special needs.
  • Administrative & Budget Duties - Excellent oral and written communication skills with regards to dealing with students, faculty, administrators, and vendors. Daily responsibility includes payroll for Union employees, employee’s attendance documentation, and issuing discipline to Union employees. Prepare expense and expense recovery reports and transportation statistics as needed. Maintain records for department and as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Manager on Duty - Participate in the on-call manager rotation. Handle any emergency or unscheduled transportation issues to ensure continuity of service.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
