Summary

SOM Tech is actively recruiting for an Endpoint systems analyst to join the team. This position is part of the SOMTech Client Services team which provides technical and administrative expertise in the support of the School of Medicine IT infrastructure, including but not limited to:
  • Enterprise management systems
  • Active Directory management
  • Information security management
  • File server management
  • Application server and web server management
  • Remove access and removable media management
  • End user support
This position will be responsible for assisting in all of these components, while having a strong focus on the management of enterprise and Active Directory systems.

**This position is expected to be on-call for off-hours infrastructure related issues**

Teleworking will be an option after a period of training.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Several years’ experience supporting IT management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work with client/server and web applications
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing, particularly with regard to the development of manuals, procedures, instructional materials, and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information so that it is understandable to novice computer users
  • Demonstrate technical ability with Windows operating systems, web applications, reporting, desktop applications, and project leadership
  • Demonstrated technical ability with Mac operating systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of general Microsoft IT infrastructure management tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical concepts to audience with varying levels of technology experience
  • Ability to follow up with appropriate technical staff until issues are resolved
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective member of a busy information technology team as well as work independently
  • Ability to perform duties independently in a timely and punctual manner
  • Essential knowledge of IT security concepts, principles and trends, such as access control, communications security, risk management, application program security, computer operations security, and physical property security.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Computer Science
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Windows server operating systems
  • Demonstration expertise of networking concepts and technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of query language and scripting concepts
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a short distance
  • Vendor sponsored certifications (CompTIA Security+, MCSE, and other information technology and security related certifications)
  • Background MacOS and Jamf certification (100 &200)
