The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director of Alumni Programs will manage alumni reunions, homecoming – Embry-Riddle’s largest annual alumni event, and oversee a wide range of alumni engagement programs and events.

In this capacity, the Assistant Director will be responsible for all programmatic elements of multiple events and will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the person in this role will be responsible for volunteer management and strategy, implementing new processes for recruitment, training, support, and collaboration.

They will work with the Executive Director to initiative and propose strategy for the Office Alumni Engagement (OAE) through volunteerism and events, envisioning and executing in support of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (PAE). The Assistant Director will develop innovative content aimed at driving engagement and participation, work with the communications team to develop creative marketing materials, email, and social media campaigns that create awareness and increase response rates. Measure and report ROI of all alumni event. Some travel, evening, and weekend work is required.

Responsibilities include the following:


Signature Events and Reunions: Homecoming, Lift Off and Alumni Awards
  • Oversee, plan and execute all details related to signature events including but not annual homecoming – Embry-Riddle’s largest alumni event, annual alumni awards, and Lift Off celebrations for graduating students.
  • Measure impact and ROI of homecoming and reunion events.
  • Propose, initiate and create innovative, engaging and inspiring programming to deliver enriching content to alumni and increase engagement.
  • Will support reunion milestone programs and anniversaries for various alumni groups.
Alumni Network Events
  • Responsible for the oversight of planning and execution of a wide range of alumni events produced by OAE and will contribute to the overall mission to engage alumni and friends through activities that will inspire investment of time, expertise, and financial support.
Volunteer Management
  • Expand current volunteer efforts and create more robust ways to identify, recruit, train, support, recognize and reward alumni who provide volunteer support for the Embry-Riddle.
  • Provide overall management of the program area including the development of a strategic and communication plan for alumni volunteer management.
Analytics and Logistics
  • Ensure smooth event management by maintaining effective relationships and communications with internal and external partners, including university leadership.
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements and manage timeline and program agenda for all events.
  • Manage contract negotiations with selected vendors.
  • Provide critical analyses reflecting progress and/or adverse trends for strategic events to drive continuous improvements.
  • Measure impact and ROI of Reunion Weekend and alumni engagement.
