Job Description:

The Executive Director (ED) establishes and implements long range strategies to expand the continuing education and graduate programs. The ED initiates and cultivates partnerships with corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies.   The role is also responsible for partnering with the Assistant Directors (staff)  and both Continuing Education Coordinators and Graduate Program Directors (faculty)  to develop marketing, recruitment and admission strategies and plans for enrollment in CE and graduate programs, overseeing the day to day operations of the division, and supervising the professional staff in the division. The ED oversees the operational and administrative functions to support quality programming and recruitment and retention of students. The Executive Director reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost. CE/Grad is a component of the Academic  Affairs Division of the College.


1. Planning & Implementation:

  • In collaborations with the Vice President, Enrollment Management, conducts market research including local and national educational, career and programming trends for expanding or enhancing the continuing education  and graduate programs portfolio as part of the New Program Development planning process;
  • Identify target markets from private and public sector clients, traditional and non-traditional student populations;
  • Develop 1 year, 3 year and 5-year strategic plan that drives expansion of revenue generating continuing education and graduate programs;
  • Assess opportunities of working collaboratively with other academic institutions and solidify agreements for profitable ventures;
  • Work collaboratively with Deans, Chairs and faculty to design and deliver programs identified in the needs assessment;
  • Develop financial analysis (including defining financial parameters) based on programmatic goals, enrollment numbers, program fees and expenses to ensure contribution to operating margin;
  • Partner with MarCom and external vendors to develop promotion and marketing tools appropriate for various audiences;
  • Develop, monitor and report key performance indicators for measuring success.

2. Operations/Administrative:

  • Analyze financial trends and data including comprehensive scans of tuition rates;
  • Manage the development, oversight and reconciliation of departmental budget;
  • Generate and analyze data for reporting on CE & Grad enrollment;
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party vendors-e.g. 5HD;
  • Working with the Registrar and Chairs, develop course schedules each semester;
  • Work with Student Financial Services on rate codes and financial processes;
  • Working with Academic Affairs leadership, implement student focused streamlined processes that improves efficiency for admissions, course registration, payment, etc. consistent with policies and systems associated with traditional programs.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 6 years of relevant business development experience within higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering incremental program growth in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated success in working effectively with various constituent groups and building productive relationships.
