Job Description:

Fairfield College Preparatory School is an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic high school of excellence located on the campus of Fairfield University for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

Fairfield Prep is currently seeking qualified candidates who are energetic and passionate educators for a full time position of the Director of Academic Support. The Director of Academic Support will report to the Academic Dean and will work closely with the Academic Dean, Director of Diversity and Community Engagement, Guidance Counselors and all faculty to show cura personalis for each student at Fairfield Prep. Job responsibilities for this position include:
  • Collaborate with members of the faculty to understand curriculum and provide professional development for strategies to differentiate curriculum and support learners in the classrooms

  • Encourages and maintains communication among students who need academic support, parents, tutors (internal and external), counselors and the teaching staff

  • Assume the primary role in the identification and remediation of individual student learning issues to promote and support academic achievement

  • Coordinates and reviews all learning accommodations for incoming students and serves as primary liaison to local boards of education where students are eligible for learning support and services

  • Coordinate and conduct individual and small group sessions for students on specific learning strategies

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations related to the Academic Center, most notably through drawing students and colleagues into a welcoming, nurturing environment for learning and personal development

  • Promote provided academic support services to students, families, faculty and staff and continually researches and implements best practices to enhance academic success

  • Maintains close communication with and works collaboratively with counselors in supporting the overall development of students.

  • Assesses the activity, progress and accomplishments of the Academic Center and academic support activities and recommends and implements institutional practices to improve effectiveness on an on-going basis.

  • Develop a study skills program that is age and grade level appropriate that can be implemented across all grade levels

  • Provides the vision for and manages the budget, equipment, physical space, and resources for the Academic Center

  • Recruits, trains, and manages the Fairfield University Intern Program and the Fairfield Prep NHS Tutoring Program and continually researches other potential needs for students

The Director of Academic Support is a twelve month position with flexible summers

Qualifications for Position:
  • Experience in supporting students with learning differences

  • Experience in, or a commitment to, Fairfield Prep’s Jesuit mission and identity

  • Bachelors’ degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
