BRIEF OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

This is a 1.0 FTE, RNTTA faculty position with City College at Montana State University Billings.

SALARY:

Salary range from $45,000 to $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, qualifications and subject to the collective bargaining agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include teaching up to 30 credit hours per year in the Instrumentation and Electrical/Process Plant Technology program; participating in curriculum and course development and outcomes assessment; participating in MSU Billings and City College and/or University committee assignments and activities; scholarly activity; face to face instruction including laboratory instruction, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Maintain a safe laboratory environment and culture.

  • The faculty member will fulfill all responsibilities outlined for teaching listed in the MTYCFA CBA and in University policy.
  • The faculty member is responsible for maintaining collegial, constructive and civil interactions with other members of the campus community.
  • In collaboration with the Department Chair, the faculty member will be responsible for courses related to the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician program.
  • Instructional Load (Credits/Academic Year): 30 credits per AY.
  • Participate in program review and outcomes assessment activities that impact student success.
  • Posted office hours to accommodate advisees and students in courses: 5 hours per week

  • Participation in professional organizations—educational, business and industry, occupational;
  • Grant writing and other fundraising activities;
  • Consulting and other activities with business and industry, and other community organizations;
  • Serving on advisory boards, outside work for agencies, awards recognizing service accomplishments;
  • City College department meetings;
  • City College committee service;
  • University committee service where appropriate
  • Participation in College recruitment, retention and student activities;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Background and education to deliver high quality instruction in at least one of the following course topics:

  • Fundamentals of process technology
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Introduction to industrial power systems
  • Instrumentation and controls
  • Process plant safety
  • Process plant sciences
  • Equipment and operations
  • Process plant troubleshooting
  • Boiler operation
  • Fundamentals of energy technicians
  • AC/DC electronics
  • Digital electronics
  • Motor controls
  • Programmable logic controllers
  • Quality control
  • Process diagrams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Two years of work experience related to industrial instrumentation or the operation of a process plant such as an oil refinery, chemical plant, or gas processing facility.
  • Experience as an educator or trainer.
  • OSHA training credential.
  • Boiler license.
  • Experience as a HazMat trainer.
  • Experience with course and program level assessment
