The University provides a broad array of credit and non-credit courses, seminars and workshops through the Division of Extended Studies. Some programs are offered on campus and others at off-campus sites more convenient to persons living outside of Pueblo. Off-campus instruction sites include Colorado Springs and Fort Carson.

The Division of Extended Studies provides courses to part-time and non-traditional students. Many educational methods - classroom instruction, correspondence courses, online courses, conferences, workshops and seminars - are utilized to expand educational access and meet the needs of students at convenient times and settings. Students may earn academic credit toward a degree, study for career advancement, or pursue cultural and vocational interests.

Description of Job

Under the direction of the Dean of Extended Studies, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for leading the artistic and design direction for all CSU Pueblo Division of Extended Studies marketing materials. The Marketing Specialist will help design and market multiple programs within the division, including but not limited to: Online Programs, High School Programs, Short Courses and Conferences, Independent Study, and the Interdisciplinary Studies degree, as well as the Tower/Fort Carson campuses. Any additional exterior marketing efforts will be coordinated by this position. This position will manage the Social Media outlets and maintain active engagement for multiple programs.

This position reports to the Dean of Extended Studies and requires a physical presence on the CSU Pueblo campus during daily working hours. This position may require some after-hour, evening, and weekend support.
Primary Duties

  • Serve as the primary creative designer for publicizing the programs and courses in Extended Studies. This will include use of Social Media posts, flyers, brochures and other mailers. Manage social media posts on a weekly basis as well as inform campus, students and the community stakeholders of the multiple programs in Extended Studies.  Responsible for updating the Extended Studies website and ensuring that programs are described accurately.
  • Collaborate with Extended Studies staff, academic department partners, community constituents, and external vendors to ensure on-time and within- budget completion of marketing projects and proposals. Coordinate contracts and review initial proposals for additional marketing opportunities
  • Work directly with the office of Marketing and Communications to ensure brand compliance and coordinate efforts with larger campus operations. Represent Extended Studies at campus functions, education fairs and community engagements in both Pueblo and Colorado Springs as well as other designated events
  • Provide data on enrollment increases due to marketing efforts, specifically illustrating the return on investment for larger marketing efforts.  Maintain an archive of all marketing materials, partner agreements, and marketing budget documents.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business or related field from a regionally-accredited institution
  • Understand the demands of digital and print design
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems with a strategic focus on creative contributions to marketing efforts
  • Ability to quickly understand written communication and identify meaning and intent
  • Ability to communicate with people effectively and be part of a team-oriented culture
  • Experience with basic office software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with creative design software on the Macintosh platform, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Pagemaker, Photo Software Preview and Graphic Conversion Software
  • Minimum 1 year experience in marketing and/or web content development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Adult Learning programs including: Non-traditional student programs, Online Programs, and Graduate programs
  • 2 or more years’ experience in marketing and/or web content development
  • Fluency with oral and written Spanish
  • Experience with photographic direction and composition
  • Experience with general digital and event photography with knowledge regarding file/archive management

Condition of Employment
