The Center for Cyber Security Education and Research (CCSER) at Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) serves as an interdisciplinary center to provide program guidance and oversight in the areas of Technology, Cyber Security, and Information Assurance and fosters collaboration and outreach opportunities in the areas of education and research for CSU Pueblo and southern Colorado students.
 
Included in its mission statement, the CCSER seeks to develop alliances with other CSU Pueblo departments and centers, other educational institutions, and external corporate and industry organizations for the purpose of pursuing joint initiatives that will provide educational and outreach programs, particularly in the areas of technology and cyber security to K-12 educational levels and to all interested parties, institutions and organizations in the greater Pueblo, Colorado area. 
 
The CCSER will coordinate the "strategic components" and activities of the National Science Foundation: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math for Hispanic Serving Institutions (NSF- STEM for HIS) grant via the Principal Investigators of these grant awards. The NSF-STEM-HSI grant, named "Project PUENTE" (Partnerships in Undergraduate Education for New and Transferring Estudiantes) is designed to use the fields of technology and cyber security as gateways to attract, recruit, and increase the retention and graduation rates of undergraduate Hispanic/Latino, female and underrepresented student groups pursuing degrees that lead to STEM degrees and STEM-related careers.

Description of Job

This 30 hour per week, benefits-eligible position provides professional level grant coordination, accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting and administrative support for the NSF-STEM-HSI grant and State of Colorado (SoC) Cyber Security/Block Chain Fund.

Primary Duties
Interface with the CSU Pueblo Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and Grants Accountant staff on a weekly and monthly basis to track, monitor and report all related expenditures under this NSF-STEM-HSI and SoC grants. Complete all related bookkeeping tasks (e.g., process P.O’s, supplemental contracts etc.) and complete monthly financial reconciliations related to the drawdowns by the 10th of each month.

Assist Co-Principal Investigator to plan and coordinate transitional and integrative activities for high school and community college level students, particularly those aimed at inclusion of under-represented student groups and females.

Assist the NSF Project PUENTE PI and Co-PI to develop, compose and complete required NSF federal reports.

Assist as needed our Project PUENTE Alliance community colleges (CCs) and high schools in collaborating, planning, developing, and implementing activities specifically directed at Hispanic/Latino CC and high school students to increase interest in STEM and cyber security related course work and STEM-related careers.

Assist Project PUENTE and SoC grant team in coordinating culturally sensitive workshops to build cultural responsibility, sensitivity and competence in instructional and curriculum practices.

Communicate NSF Project PUENTE activities, accomplishments and program progress to CSU-Pueblo Marketing for media coverage and news releases.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in a business-related field from a regionally or nationally accredited university
  • Ability to develop effective work relationships with NSF grants team, CSU Pueblo administrators and financial staff, and community college and high school administrators 
  • Ability to work with state and federal grants and related Fund accounting and financial reporting
  • Evidence of excellence in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other related software interfaces
  • Successful work experience in project management, and project coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher (e.g. MS, MA, MBA) in accounting, finance, project management, business
  • Evidence of personal commitment to the CCSER and NSF Project PUENTE mission and its related goals
  • Evidence of the ability to manage multiple project and accounting and financial reporting deadlines in a timely fashion
  • Work experience in project management or projects coordinating State of Colorado and Federal grant awards.  
  • Experience in Fund or Grant accounting
  • Experience with CSU KUALI Financial Systems (KFS) and Accounting Reporting Systems
  • Evidence of working with diverse faculty, diverse community college and high school teachers, administrators, and in particular, female students and students from diverse backgrounds

Condition of Employment
