This position will develop and implement programs and services to meet the needs of the LGBTQ student community. Through education, on-campus engagement, and advocacy, the LGBTQIA+ Coordinator will design and implement initiatives, programs, and activities, that foster and contribute to the enrichment of the university community and to the development of LGBTQIA+ identity. Coordinates and assesses trainings such as Safe Space and serve as Safe Space Co-Chair, Ally Bystander Intervention. Advises student organizations in the development of programs and activities serving as an advocate, mentor, and educator. Plans, develops, and coordinates student programming efforts designed to increase students’ and campus community awareness.


Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Sports Recreation Administration, Student Affairs, or related field. Supervisory experience with graduate and/or undergraduate student employees. Basic/working full-time experience in administering and overseeing university student programs. Familiarity with LGBTQ community needs, resources, solutions, and resolutions. Basic/working knowledge of and awareness of evolving trends in the LGBTQIA+ community. Prior experience in planning and coordinating LGBTQIA+ multicultural programming and LGBTQ advocacy work. Prior knowledge of student development theory, student involvement, and engagement strategies to increase student retention, progression, and graduation. Some experience in designing promotional and informational materials. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentations. Expertise with social media outreach, including Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships across cultures with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
