The School of Counseling, Human Performance, and Rehabilitation, in the College of Business, Health and Human Services at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, invites applications for a tenure-track twelve (12) month academic position at the Assistant professor rank (R0011935 Assistant Professor of Counseling/Program Coordinator). This position will serve as Program Coordinator for the Graduate online M.A. in Counseling with tracks in mental health, rehabilitation, and school counseling. Program Coordination includes administration and program-level leadership tasks throughout the calendar year. The department particularly invites and encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. We seek faculty who are committed to teaching, research, scholarly publication and public service. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in counseling (CACREP-accredited program strongly preferred)

ABD candidates will be considered provided degree is conferred prior to position start date;

  • Licensed or Arkansas license-eligible in counseling specialty and familiar with licenses/certifications in mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and school counseling;
  • Prepared in the teaching of counseling and knowledgeable about mental health, rehabilitation, and school counseling;
  • Demonstrated administrative experience, multi-tasking, and program leadership;
  • Experience with a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard);
  • Experience in college/university teaching.

  • Ability to effectively teach a diverse population of students
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and program leadership skills
  • An interest in and potential for student-centered program coordination and leadership
  • Record of and potential for scholarship in respective area of specialization
  • Online teaching experience
  • Demonstrated dedication to multicultural education and social justice (e.g., LGBTQ+, ethnic groups, social class, and disability status)
  • Evidence of a commitment to working collegially
  • Training in specialty areas and teaching competency in areas that complement current faculty specialties as part of a multi-track large counseling program
  • Experience teaching across various platforms, i.e. face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid
