Position Summary:

Oversee a grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Title V Program, which is designed to expand and enhance the academic offerings and program quality of colleges and universities educating Hispanic and low-income students. The project focuses on increasing student retention, persistence, achievement, and degree completion; and preparing students to pursue their professional aspirations by redesigning the learning environment from enrollment to graduation. The project activities will include development and deployment of guided pathways frameworks, robust teaching and learning strategies, and unified student supports.

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related discipline with two (2) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Experience and knowledge of federal grant education programs.
  • One to three years’ experience working with faculty on curriculum development or design.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in higher education, preferably to include community colleges
  • Experience with project management skills, including experience working with deadlines, managing large budgets, and overseeing high profile projects.
  • Experience in grant management, contracting and procurement.
  • Experience in creating, reviewing, overseeing and managing student success programs involving a diverse student population.
  • Experience in guided pathways principles, mapping, and implementation.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs or other administrator, the Title V Coordinator provides overall leadership, organization, and oversight throughout the implementation of the Title V project. The following examples of duties illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position, but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.
  • Overseeing the project administration with the campus Dean of Academic and Student Affairs;
  • Overseeing development and assessment of project activities, project budget, programmatic adjustments, and student supports
  • Oversee redesign and mapping of Guided Pathways and contextualized First Year Experience for new students.
  • Oversee faculty enhancement of targeted gateway and introductory courses.
  • Oversee interdepartmental team for planning and implementing of Unified Student Supports associated with the CASA Pathways project (e.g., co-curricular activities, coaching and advising, tutoring, career plan development, financial literacy instruction).
  • Monitor and manage introduction and use of LMS and CRM applications.
  • Facilitate effective project evaluation and assessment of tangible results.
  • Overseeing development of a virtual “Pathway Commons” web portal;
  • Overseeing project consultants who are contracted for project activities;
  • Working collaboratively with faculty and staff in the grant activity areas to provide support and oversight during the implementation process;
  • Planning and facilitating professional development and training events for college staff and faculty;
  • Serving as co-chair of the Title V Task Force which will meet routinely to oversee the implementation process;
  • Monitoring progress, reviewing outcomes and working with the External Evaluator and Institutional Research staff to implement the evaluation plan;
  • Prepare and submit budgets and periodic reports associated with the Title V project.
  • Regularly reporting results to College stakeholders and the US Department of Education. The position has extensive cooperative and collaborative relationships with the College community..
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated Salary; $75,124 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
