Frontier Nursing University is a private, non-profit, non-residential graduate school of nursing offering community-based, distance education programs leading to the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, the Master of Science in Nursing degree and/or post-graduate certificates in advanced practice nursing specialties. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Frontier Nursing University (FNU) reports to the President, is a key member of the President’s Cabinet and sits at the center of strategy, technology and financial management. The CFO provides financial and technology leadership to advance the university’s mission, strategic goals, priorities, and operating objectives. In collaboration with the Board of Directors and the President, the CFO is responsible for financial management of the Frontier Nursing University (FNU) operations, oversight of the development and management of information technology.
Supervisor Responsibility:
This position has direct managerial responsibility and oversight of accounting and informational technology services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Finance
-
Implement best NACUBO and other
financial and management best practices.
Provides regular reports to the
President, FNU Board of Directors, the Foundation Board of
Directors , other Board committees, and the FNU community as
appropriate.
Administer investment and fund
transactions as directed by the Board.
Direct the treasury function for FNU
including management of cash-on-hand, banking relationships and
forecasting of cash balances/needs.
Develops and maintains systems of
internal controls to safeguard assets of FNU.
Direct the accounting functions
including preparation of the annual budget, accurate and timely
financial forecasting and reporting against budget, and audit
support.
Prepare financial analyses in support
of key decisions and initiatives.
Completes feasibility studies for new
or expanded programs, facilities or other high impact projects or
initiatives.
Serves as CFO of the Frontier Nursing
Service Foundation, a subsidiary of FNU.
Information Technology

Oversees the information technology
functions in close collaboration with the Director of Information
Technology
Serve as Executive Sponsor of key
information system initiatives.
Development of strategic information
systems strategy and process improvement goals.
Leadership, Legal, and Commercial
-
Advise the President and
administrators on all strategic operating, business, financial, and
IT initiatives involving the FNU.
Assist the President to continue
strong strategic growth initiatives.
Function as a key player in strategic
planning linked to multiple-year budgets.
Knowledge of higher education and
employment law in order to ensure compliance for the FNU.
Provides executive leadership,
maintains the highest standard of ethical conduct.
Coordinate strategic alliances.
Manage contracts and legal issues
including governmental reporting and compliance.
Analyze and administer renewals of
employee benefits and insurance programs.
This position has direct managerial
responsibility and oversight of the Accounting and IT
services.
Provide service to the University
through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance
(e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g.
charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to
the profession (e.g. presentations, profession organization
committee work).

Education & Experience:
-
Master’s degree (MBA preferred) in
Business, Management, or Finance.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA),
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
Experience in financial management
and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector and/or in higher
education.
Experience should include legal,
audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for long periods of time.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the FNU President.
