The Applied Developmental Psychology doctoral program is seeking a candidate with a strong publication record, an established history of external research funding (or clear evidence of potential to secure funding), and teaching experience who can contribute to one or more of the program’s three specializations: Families, Schools, and Society; Race, Ethnicity, and Culture; and Health, Illness, and Well-Being. The program emphasizes the understanding and promotion of human development over the lifespan; the three specializations reflect the faculty’s focus on policy-relevant research from neurologically-based development to social and cognitive issues to school-based and community intervention and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: infant and/or early child development research in applied settings; multidisciplinary policy-relevant research or intervention/prevention and evaluation research related to any developmental period, or broader developmental interests in social determinants of developmental risk and resilience, including intersectionalities (such as across race, gender, class, sexuality) for understanding and promoting development across the lifespan.  Candidates have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty whose research focuses on biopsychosocial approaches to development across the lifespan, including genomics, health disparities, sleep, cognitive and social-emotional development, and family, community and school dynamics.

The Department of Psychology offers doctoral degrees in Applied Developmental Psychology (ADP), Clinical Psychology, and Psychometric/Quantitative Psychology, along with Master’s degrees in Applied Psychological Methods and Clinical Research Methods. Applicants with a background in developmental psychology or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Please submit the following: (i) a cover letter addressing how your interests and qualifications align with the position and how you address diversity, equity, and inclusion in your work, (ii) a vita, (iii) a research statement, (iv) a statement of teaching experience and interests, (v) three representative publications, and (vi) names, titles, and contact information for three professional references. Letters of recommendation will be requested at a later date as determined by the search committee.  Application materials should be submitted through Interfolio: https://apply.interfolio.com/107836

Review of applications will begin October 15, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries should be directed to our department Administrator, Maria Barbieri (barbieri@fordham.edu) or the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Celia Fisher (fisher@fordham.edu).

Fordham is an equal opportunity employer, and we especially encourage women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities to apply.
