Job Description: 

Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Clinical Educator in the Speech, Hearing, and Learning Services Department (FA088). The Clinical Educator supervises and guides Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students in their clinical experiences, as assigned by the speech-language clinic director. This position will be responsible for supervising students in their placement at area school divisions as well as on-site at Longwood's Speech, Hearing and Learning Services. This includes supervision of students' use of various clinical materials and equipment (e.g., audiometers); demonstration of speech-language assessments or interventions, as needed; and assure verification of the requirements associated with ethics, confidentiality, and billing are met.  

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Supervises and guides graduate Communication Sciences and Disorders clinicians in their clinical placements at the Speech, Hearing, and Learning Services and in area school divisions
  • With the Speech-Language Clinic Director, assist in monitoring external clinical placements
  • Models speech-language pathology services by directly providing services to clients, either with or without students
  • Monitors students' adherence to various compliance requirements (e.g., billing, HIPAA, confidentiality, Code of Ethics)
  • Teaches one section of CSDS 201 Communication Disorders in the Media each semester as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Requirements: 

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and hold or be eligible for a license as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
  • Substantial experience as a speech-language pathologist
  • Experience supervising graduate students

This position is a full-time, 11-month, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.
