The University of Hull has been changing the way people think for 90 years. Founded in 1927 as a ‘centre of light and culture’ for Hull, the University is proud to play a leading role in the educational, social, economic and cultural development of our unique city and region. As England’s 14th-oldest university, we have a proud heritage of academic excellence, and a history of creating and inspiring life-changing research. And we have no plans to stop helping to build a better world. A strong sense of place remains at the heart of our identity and the global perspective and expertise of our talented people and our dynamic collaborations with partners enable us to bring communities together. It is this union between education, research and knowledge exchange, and between the local and the global, which defines our internationally engaged civic university.

Our recently launched Strategy 2030 sets out our vision for a fairer, brighter and carbon-neutral future, and is centred around the two themes of Environmental Sustainability and Social Justice. We are investing heavily in our physical and digital estate, which presents us with a real opportunity to align our digital and physical infrastructure into one which will enable us to achieve the ambitions set out in our 2030 strategy. To help realise this exciting ambition we are now seeking to appoint an Executive Director, Infrastructure Services. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a new post which will bring the IT, Estates and Facilities functions together into one cohesive Directorate.

We are seeking an inclusive strategic leader with a proven track record of successfully leading and managing large scale operational and cultural change in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity. They will have the vision and courage to challenge the status quo, with the proven ability to translate bold and innovative visions into reality. The successful candidate will have experience of driving service outcomes and organisational culture in response to user needs, with the ability to develop and maintain outstanding customer service and a high-performance management culture. They will have excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience, together with strong commercial awareness, financial acumen and customer service focus.

Critically, the Executive Director, Infrastructure Services will be passionate about delivering Strategy 2030 and will have a genuine commitment to the vision and mission of the University and our desire to lead creative change at the forefront of environmental sustainability and social justice.
