CHSS invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the
field of Audiovisual Translation Studies, Cultural Mediation and/or
the Creative Industries. The successful candidate will preferably
have relevant experience in teaching the theory, the methodology
and the practice of audiovisual translation across sectors in the
Arabic/English and English/Arabic combination and/or in mediation
for the creative industries (media, arts, heritage and functional
creations) . The candidate will work closely with other programs in
the college, in particular, the PhD program in Humanities and
Social Sciences, and with national, regional, and international
partners and stakeholders.
The candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses at MA
level, apply an innovative range of methodologies for teaching and
assessment, and contribute to curriculum development in their
area(s) of specialty. The candidate will supervise MA and PhD
students and will be committed to research-based teaching and
learning and the integration of professional practices into
classroom activities, encouraging students to develop their
critical skills to analyze and reflect on one of the fields stated
above with a specific focus on new research and professional trends
in these areas. The candidate is expected to maintain an active
research agenda in and beyond translation studies and the creative
industries and participate in departmental and college-wide

scholar with an innovative, interdisciplinary and socially relevant
research agenda, as evidenced through an internationally recognized
record of peer-reviewed publications and funding/grant

- PhD or terminal degree from an accredited university as
required for teaching in certain fields.
- Show promise or potential in scholarly activities and academic
affairs of a university or other appropriate organization, or in an
appropriate professional society or organization.
- Ability to work with and lead diverse groups, cultures, and
