Job Summary
Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and life safety and electrical control systems to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities.

The University of Wisconsin (UW) System offers a comprehensive benefits package to meet the diverse needs of our community. The University contributes towards the cost of several benefit plans. Employees also receive a vacation package starting at 104 hours during first year(prorated in first year based on start date), sick leave (with no expiration), and paid legal holidays.

The wage for this position is $47.80 per hour.


Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this vacancy must:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, construction plans and the ability to implement.
  • Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
  • Hold a High School Diploma
  • Have completed a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development as a Electrician - Journey (please upload card in Other documents 1) as defined on DWD website





Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will also have:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of computer functions including but not limited to word processing, proprietary/industry-specific software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operations, maintenance and repair of electrical alarm systems and apparatus commonly used in institutional buildings.
  • Evidence of possessing technical skills in the troubleshooting of electrical problems
  • Evidence of having completed OSHA 10 training
  • Experience working within a commercial/institutional environment
  • Possession of an Electrician Masters license as defined by DWD
  • Evidence of the ability to work independently and well-organized
