Instructions for Applicants:

Please read the following carefully before beginning the online application process.

To be considered for employment at Willamette University, please complete our online employment application. Your application and all required attachments -- listed at the bottom of the page -- must be submitted for each individual job post that you are interested in applying for. If there is an application deadline, please ensure that your application is submitted by the deadline. Once you submit your application you will not be able to edit your application.

Position Summary:
Willamette University College of Law invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track faculty positions beginning in the fall of 2023. The College of Law is located in Salem, Oregon, steps away from the Oregon State Capitol and a short distance from the Portland metro area, the mountains, and the coast. We welcome applications from candidates in all subject areas, and we especially welcome candidates interested in teaching courses in Evidence, Criminal Law & Procedure, Business Law, Commercial Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Professional Responsibility, Lawyering, and Environmental Law.

Reasonable Accommodations Statement
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Applicants must possess strong professional credentials and a proven ability to produce thoughtful scholarship, as well as the skills necessary to communicate their expertise to colleagues and their students. Additionally, the College of Law has been a leader in the national movement in conversations around alternatives to the traditional bar exam. This January, the Oregon Supreme Court approved in concept two new attorney licensure pathways, including a curriculum-based experiential pathway. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated interest in experiential education or an interest in developing simulation-based courses.

Willamette University is committed to the academic excellence and rich and rewarding communities that a diverse faculty, staff, and student body brings. We welcome candidates whose work furthers equity and diversity and who bring to campus a commitment to sharing varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds. Applicants demonstrating these qualifications are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as received and review will continue until the positions are filled.

All University positions require that candidates submit to a criminal conviction record check prior to hire. Conviction does not automatically preclude candidates from being hired. Nature of conviction will be considered relative to the duties of the position.

You will need to upload the following documents as part of your application materials in the "My Experience" section labeled Resume:
  • Cover letter addressing the required/desired qualifications and presenting any other applicant characteristics which deserve emphasis
  • Current Resume/CV with email contact information
  • Contact information for 3 references

Questions may be directed to Professor Andrew Gilden, Chair, Appointments Committee, at agilden@willamette.edu.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
