POSITION TITLE:

Fixed Term Business Instructor

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Responsibilities include teaching up to 30 credit hours per year in the Business program; participating in curriculum and course development and outcomes assessment; participating in MSU Billings and City College and/or University committee assignments and activities; scholarly activity; online course development and delivery, teaching at non-traditional times.

  • Salary range of $48,000 to $53,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include teaching up to 30 credit hours per year in the Business program; participating in curriculum and course development and outcomes assessment; participating in MSU Billings and City College and/or University committee assignments and activities; scholarly activity; online course development and delivery, teaching at non-traditional times.

  • Full-time, faculty are expected to maintain a commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of all services, programs, procedures and interactions that employees have with students, family members, staff, faculty members, community partners, colleagues and guests.

TEACHING: Instruction (90 % of all duties)

  • The faculty member will fulfill all responsibilities outlined for teaching listed in the MTYCFA CBA and in University policy.
  • The faculty member is responsible for maintaining collegial, constructive and civil interactions with other members of the campus community.
  • In collaboration with the Department Chair, the faculty member will be responsible for courses related to the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician program.
  • Instructional Load (Credits/Academic Year): 30 credits per AY.
  • Participate in program review and outcomes assessment activities that impact student success.
  • Posted office hours to accommodate advisees and students in courses: 5 hours per week

Professional Development Percentage (up to 2.5 % of all duties)

The following is a list of activities that are considered to be scholarly for the faculty member in this position:

  • Scholarly activity such as applied research, presentations and publications;
  • Professional development activities—educational and occupational;
  • Achieved recognition in education, business, industry or in an occupation as evidenced by licensure or certification;
  • Textbook review for publishers within the discipline.

Service Percentage (up to 5 % of all duties)

  • Participation in professional organizations—educational, business and industry, occupational;
  • Grant writing and other fundraising activities;
  • Consulting and other activities with business and - industry, and other community organizations;
  • Serving on advisory boards, outside work for agencies, awards recognizing service accomplishments;

 

  • City College department meetings;
  • City College committee service;
  • University committee service where appropriate

Other Expectations Percentage (up to 2.5 % of all duties)

  • Participation in College recruitment, retention and student activities;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Business.
  • Three (3) years of current relevant work experience appropriate to the field of business or in the field of teaching.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to relate well to people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and teach to a diverse group of 2-year college students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work, communicate and teach through online learning platform.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Business.
  • Three (3) years of current relevant work experience appropriate to the field of business or in the field of teaching.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to relate well to people from a variety of backgrounds.
