Job Summary

The Payroll Processor is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of hourly and student payroll, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements. Fully trained back up to the Payroll Specialist including analysis, government reporting and audit. Maintains confidentiality.

Essential Functions
  • Review timecards for non‑exempt staff and student payrolls in TCP system. Record payroll data in workbooks for non‑exempt staff and faculty/administrative payrolls.
  • Enters additions, deletions, and appropriate changes in connection with Direct Deposit or check preparation for student, non‑exempt, faculty and administrative payrolls. Responsible for distribution and accounting for all payroll checks.
  • Prepares authorizations for transfer of funds and tax deposits to cover payrolls. Deal directly with banks or taxing agencies on routine payroll related matters.
  • Recaps payrolls and provide or confirm payroll data to Controller and Director of Human Resources as required.
  • Calculate, input and audit payroll and timekeeping information in order to assure the accuracy of employee payroll processed
  • Review monthly payroll
  • Participate on and contributes to various project management teams.
  • Maintains payroll related files.
  • Account analysis on all payroll related accounts, tax, benefits
  • Federal Work Study reconciliation and related audit schedules
  • Run payroll checks, back up to run accounts payable and Student accounts checks.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains vacation and sick leave accruals for non-exempt.
  • Reviews payroll calculations for Group Term Life, Social Security and TIAA / CREF TDA maximums, and other deductions.
  • Use payroll ticket system to respond to all time and attendance, vacation and hourly and student payroll related questions. Provide or confirm payroll data to Controller and Director of Human Resources as required.
  • Yearly vacation review and accruals
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Complete yearly glacier training.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure accuracy and timeliness in managing all new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, reconciliations, salary changes and calculation of end of service payments
  • Supports mission, vision and values.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year college level accounting education
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience with payroll software systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly excel.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to function effectively with minimum of instruction and follow up
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background screening process.
  • High level of organizational ability with close attention to detail and precision
  • Perform with accuracy and be able to verify your own performance
  • Conscientious and responsible for confidential records.
  • Professional communication skills
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
