Schedule Information: Flexible schedule with some evening and weekends required. This position is a two year appointment.

Hours per Week: 20-25

Benefits: Prorated Sick & Vacation; Holiday Pay; and 2 Harper Tuition Waivers per semester

Work Conditions: Work will be primarily in person with occasional remote work opportunities. Primarily indoors, but outdoor events may be required. Lifting (10-15 pounds) and event set-up may be required. Evening and weekend work is required to perform the duties of the job.

Duties of Position: Responsible for increasing community awareness and engagement of and access to Harper programing, services, resources, and events by assisting with the operations and logistics for new and current community relations initiatives. Works closely with community organizations, individual community members, K-8 school representatives, Harper faculty, staff, volunteers, and students.

Plans and implements K-8 school tours including recruiting, training, and coordinating student tour guides; coordinating school details and logistics; reserving campus facilities; coordinating lunch orders, maintaining safety of students and facilities.

Coordinates the annual K-8 school outreach and engagement. Develops template tours and engagement opportunity by working with Harper faculty and staff to develop educational activities; coordinates college resources and volunteers for school events including STEAM Nights, literacy nights, math nights, resource fairs and parent presentations.

Attends and assists with coordinating logistics for annual outreach events in the community and on campus including Harper’s Experience Day. Responsibilities include event logistics, volunteer coordination, and attendance of the event.

Establishes data point collection to monitor and report out on outreach outcomes, and attendance at all events and engagement opportunities.

Serves as a Harper liaison for assigned community or civic organization.

Represents Harper at outreach events.

Assists in recruiting and training Harper ambassadors to serve on community committees and in civic organizations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s preferred

Experience Requirements: 2 years’ experience in community outreach, volunteer management, event management, community healthcare worker experience or similar field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Outgoing interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective advocate for the college. Must be able to work as part of a team and independently. Must be inventive, organized, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Bi-lingual highly encouraged.
