Schedule Information: Monday to Friday, 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm

Hours per Week: 29.5

Benefits: Prorated Sick & Vacation; Holiday Pay; and 2 Harper Tuition Waivers per semester

Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature.

Duties of Position: Computer Operators manage and monitor IT systems to ensure they are running smoothly and securely to maintain productivity and minimize disruptions. Operates the various processing equipment platforms supported by Information Technology, adhering to standard practices and procedures.

Operates all Data Center technology following established standards/procedures which include the power on/off, initialization, ongoing utilization, shutdown and emergency procedures.

Follows schedules of production processing in Information Technology’s workflow automation system to insure that on-demand and scheduled jobs are completed within the expected timeframes and guidelines. Coordinates resolution of job completion issues with appropriate personnel.

Ensures the secure access of the Data Center. Protects the confidentiality of all processing within the Data Center during all phases of setup, production, and delivery and distribution of any resulting reports.

Provides assistance for problem resolution, record/provides reports on performance statistics which may include logs/forms for such items as problem reporting, numbers of outages, average duration of outages, hardware failures, software failures, shift turnovers, on-line availability, terminal outages, etc.

Proactively maintain job backups.

Monitor all systems in Data Centers and alert the Infrastructure team of any issues.

Maintain and manage the processing of jobs and run procedures.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience Requirements: One year minimum required as Computer Operator using Windows and Linux servers or equivalent running VM’s. Experience with common backup/archiving systems, tape and disk backup systems and workload scheduling systems.
