This position is being vacated by a current employee. Provide academic advising to our graduate student population, particularlyour online population. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of work experience in a university academic setting required. Master’s Degree preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
Working with a diverse and international student body.
Knowledge of graduate level university degree requirements
Strong communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
Ability to manage confidential records discretely and professionally
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task, organize workflow, work well in a high pressure environment, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and to foster the success of others. Responsibilities
Graduate Advising
  • Provide personal academic counseling to campus and online graduate students concerning degree requirements, and registration issues.
  • Collaborate with online education provider to streamline processes and troubleshoot student issues
  • Assist in retention of both online and campus graduate students by assisting students who are overwhelmed or discouraged or need help in transitioning to the U.S. educational system.
  • Provide group advising sessions in person and online.
  • Respond to advising inquiries by phone and email in a timely manner.
  • Process advising forms including add and drop forms.

Graduate Student Event Planning
  • Work with iSchool staff in convocation coordination.
  • Work with Assistant Dean for Student Services in coordinating opening week.
  • Coordinate and deliver group advising sessions.

Form and File Maintenance
  • Work with Assistant Dean of Student Services and Academic Affairs staff to maintain advising handbooks, forms and program requirement checklists.
  • Process petitions.
  • Evaluate and post transfer credit.
  • Accurately maintain student academic files.


Perform Degree Certification for graduate students in a timely manner.
