The Office of Access & Equity Services at SUNY Delhi is seeking to fill the position of Accessibility Support Counselor. The counselor will work to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with students, faculty and staff, and foster a climate of inclusivity and equity. They will assist the Director by serving as a support liaison for students and their families; meet/communicate with and assist regarding academic performance, academic and social support resources, registration, and referrals. The incumbent will coordinate and oversee the Access & Equity Peer Mentoring program and social group. In addition, this individual will administer the accommodated testing program and all of the elements that come with it as noted in their primary responsibilities.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Meeting and communicating with students regarding academic performance, academic and social support resources, registration, and referrals.
  • Creating innovative and engaging program opportunities, including workshops, events, activities and clubs for students with disabilities.
  • Providing supportive counseling to students by assisting students in developing problem-solving approaches through which they can address their needs and concerns, including self-advocacy skills.
  • Maintaining accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date records related to student contacts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, special education, or other related fields.
  • Two or more years of experience in an educational environment with diverse populations.
  • Experience with providing crisis intervention and resource referrals on/off-campus.
  • Experience in the development of new student success programs in higher education.  
  • Professional experience assisting individuals with disabilities in the higher education setting, 
  • Strong data management, analysis, and communication skills
  • Experience providing executive functioning skill development training
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse professional team. 

 Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree 
  • Two to three years of professional experience assisting individuals with disabilities in the higher education setting
