The School of Social Sciences, Communication & Humanities at Endicott College is seeking an Associate Dean and Director, M.S. Homeland Securities to oversee the undergraduate criminal justice and political science programs and serve as Director of the Homeland Security Studies (HLS) program. Primary responsibilities of this position:

  1. Oversight of Criminal Justice and Political Science undergraduate programs:
  • Champion faculty excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Oversee curriculum in both programs and work with faculty to revise as needed. 
  • Represent both programs at admissions events. 
  • Work with Communications and Marketing to promote accomplishments of criminal justice and political science faculty and students, and of important initiatives in each program.
  • Advise students. 
  • Serve as a readily accessible point of contact and source of information for students, faculty and staff on all matters involving the criminal justice and political science programs. 
  • With assistance from one of the School's academic coordinators, set the course of study for criminal justice and political science offerings each semester.
  • Help coordinate special events related to criminal justice and political science.   
  • Develop internal and external partnerships and pursue grant opportunities as appropriate. 
  • Teach one criminal justice course or one political science course per year. 
  1. Serving as Director of the M.S.in Homeland Security Studies program:
  • Manage program course scheduling, staffing, and delivery; curriculum development and assessment; faculty hiring, evaluation, and support; and student recruitment, onboarding, and academic advising
  • Drive internal recruitment efforts by educating Endicott students, faculty, and staff about the HLS program through information sessions, direct outreach to prospective fifth year students, and representing the program in college meetings, events, and publications.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing and admissions staff to raise the program's external profile through targeted outreach to regional undergraduate colleges, employers, and online audiences.
  • Meet annual revenue targets.
  • Encourage student participation with regular check-ins with the program director.
  • Connect students with academic support services, mental health counseling, and other campus resources as appropriate to help them persist and succeed in their academic goals.
  • Strengthen alumni and industry relationships. 
  • Teach one course per calendar year to support the program.

    Qualifications:

    • Doctorate in criminal justice, political science, security studies or related field.  
    • Prior higher education teaching experience
    • Prior administrative experience in higher education, government, or law enforcement.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Team player
    • Familiarity with Google Suite including Sheets, Docs, and Folders
