Technical Director, Lighting and Sound Designer
Non-Instructional Academic Staff
Starting at $40,000 commensurate with experience
Terms of Employment:
Fixed term-terminal; 9 month contract
Directs the set up and maintenance of technical and operational
equipment for theater performances to ensure high quality theater
production and department sustainability. Provides technical
instruction, develops and implements safety policy, and may develop
program budgets, and/or train and supervise stage crews
(professional and/or students).

This person maintains and supervises a scene shop, a 488 seat
Proscenium Theatre and a 125 seat black box theatre all of which
serve as learning laboratories for an undergraduate BA/BS theatre
program. The Technical Director is responsible for the on-time
planning, engineering, mechanical drawing/drafting and installation
of the designed scenic elements as well as purchasing, budgeting,
load in and load out of sets. This person supervises technical
components at all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and

1. Master of Fine Arts or equivalent terminal degree in Theatre
Technology or Theatre Design at time of application
