Position Summary

Drug addiction research groupseeks a motivated Research Technician III to assist in performing behavioral and molecular experiments. The focus of our research is to understand how drugs of abuse and stress mediate plasticity in the brain. We use a multi-facetted approach from molecules to behavior.

Specific duties include:
  • General lab management and maintenance.
  • Small rodent surgery.
  • Managing care of animals used in research.
  • Observation and recording of animal behavior.
  • Preparation of tissue samples, protein assays and PCR .
  • Coordination, direction and training of students and technicians in lab techniques and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or two years formal training in a STEM discipline ideally with a life-sciences focus.
  • At least 4 years of experience directly related to laboratory research.
  • Requires demonstrated working knowledge in operating experimental and unique equipment.
  • The candidate should be familiar with computers and the use of Microsoft Office Software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in related field plus additional research experience in the handling and use of animals and experience with tissue culture.

Physical Demands

Salary Range
$55,000 - $70,000
Work Hours

Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Specific hours to be determined
Some weekends required based on need
