Position Summary:

We have three Staff Therapist openings, one 10-month position and two 12-month positions. Two positions are for generalists who will work with our entire student population, and one position will address the needs of and outreach to our multicultural students. These are full time benefit eligible positions that offer health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay.

The University of Dayton seeks three dedicated and dynamic mental health therapists to enrich the Counseling Center team. Currently, one 10-month position and two 12-month positions are available. Two positions are for generalists who will work with our entire student population, and one position will address the needs of and outreach to our multicultural students. This multicultural position (either 10- or 12-month) will provide services a minimum of one afternoon per week within the Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center on campus. All therapists hired will provide individual and group therapy, emergency walk-in support, after-hours crisis intervention (as part of a rotation), outreach, and supervision of graduate trainees (when credentialed to do so). The Counseling Center actively contributes to the University's holistic approach to mental health and suicide prevention through integration of the UD Step Care Model with the Division of Health and Wellbeing. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with a wide array of student concerns and wants to contribute to a dynamic team within an amazing community at the University of Dayton. To achieve success, the candidate must be dedicated to reducing barriers to care that exist for communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups. Further, a commitment to understand and support the University of Dayton's distinctive Marianist tradition and educational vision, as well as a willingness to model institutional values of service to others, community, and diversity, are imperative.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Graduate degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D. MSW, MSSW, MA or M.Ed) in counseling, psychology or social work from an accredited program.
- Must currently hold or obtain licensure in Ohio. If not yet licensed, must be eligible within two years. If coming from out of state must be eligible to transfer license to Ohio within six months. Must maintain licensure throughout duration of employment
- Knowledge of the mental health needs and concerns of a young adult-aged population
- Possess experience in crisis intervention and emergency management within a clinical setting
- Experience and commitment to facilitating groups, including process, psycho-education, and support groups
- Experience working collaboratively with various constituents
- One or more years working in a clinical setting with a young adult population
- Excellent written communication skills, ability to write concise, clear and logical clinical documentation
- Ability to work on an on-call basis as a part of a 24/7 crisis response system that may require the person to respond to campus or a hospital /mental health facility after hours
- Flexibility in implementing outreach programming during business hours, the evenings, and weekends to best meet student needs
- Capacity to independently manage a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Experience documenting work an Electronic Medical Records system
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

- Articulated passion for promoting holistic wellbeing and enhancing student learning
- Demonstrated success in engaging underrepresented communities programming and treatment.
- One or more years of training experience providing clinical supervision
- Demonstrated integrity, dependability, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative, positive, and effective working relationships with multiple constituency groups
- Demonstrated ability to work with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations, and evidence of commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and a collaborative multicultural environment
- Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, service in leadership, and balanced lifestyles

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
