Position Summary

Establishment of Department Pool for
Affiliate/Part-time Instructor of Cybersecurity undergraduate courses.

Qualified applicants will be placed in the departmental pool and will be considered for affiliate/part-time Instructor of Computer Science Cybersecurity positions.

Duties/Responsibilities

We are seeking part-time lecturers committed to teach computer science cybersecurity courses for MSU Denver’s Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity. Successful applicants will help the department deliver undergraduate cybersecurity programs. Applicants will also need a thorough understanding of the field of cybersecurity including networking, servers, organizational needs and the marketplace and the rapid evolution of each.

The graduates of our programs are expected to be effective at participating in cybersecurity operations at a wide variety of organizations and levels. Successful applicants will be instrumental in ensuring graduates are prepared not only in the principles and technical elements, but also understand the financial, operational and strategic aspects of cybersecurity.

Applicants will be involved in innovative ways to deliver the curriculum to a wide variety of students. Courses taught will use a mixture of in-class, hybrid and online delivery methods.

The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Required Qualifications

• [Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field]
OR [Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field AND five years of experience in the cybersecurity industry].
• Ability for and experience in educating others
• Excellent technical aptitude
• Ingenuity and willingness to develop creative solutions to complex problems
• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a rapidly changing environment
• Experience in implementing cybersecurity solutions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the cybersecurity industry
• Higher education experience
• Relevant certifications (cybersecurity and/or networking)
• Familiarity with national cybersecurity educational frameworks
