Purpose of Job

The Incumbent serves as an informational linkage between the SAAS, community, students, and University stakeholders. He/she provides a full-range of communication strategies, services and products connecting the public with research-based and technical Information to Improve their quality of life.

Scope of Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

Provides leadership in development and Implementation of strategic marketing and communication plans for the SAAS .
Manages the School’s media and communications unit.
Advises on communication strategies, technologies, and procedures.
Implements a strategic marketing and communications plan for the SAAS .
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with representatives of the public media.
Develops and distributes press releases, publications and media advisories.
Acquires professional and production services from external sources as required.
Coordinates development and application of distance education technologies.
Seeks funding to support production projects and technology enhancement.
Works collaboratively with the University’s Office of Marketing and Communications to ensure programs, events and activities are effectively promoted.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of communications best practices
Knowledge of university policies, principles and strategies
Recruitment, management, sales and/or knowledge of higher education Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and Interpersonal Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Proficient command of the English language Excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Ability to effectively incorporate the use of technology and Social Media to deliver communication services
Ability to think analytically
Ability to prioritize and organize work
