Job Description:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population.

Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the relevant programs at MassBay Community College.

Massachusetts Bay Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Integrated Science from qualified applicants. An ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage, mentor, and work with diverse student populations. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare syllabus, assign textbooks and other curricular materials consistent with the needs of the program and related department(s);
  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty and staff at the college to carry out the responsibilities of the position consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
  • This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. A supervisor may assign other duties as required to meet the needs and foster the mission of the College;

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology or a related field;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology or a related field;
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Undergraduate teaching experience at a community college, or at a university. High school teaching experience may also be relevant.



Additional Information:

Education : Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics,

Geology or a closely related field.

Salary Range : Commensurate with experience consistent with the provisions of the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) contract.
