Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, and implement admissions procedures, operations, correspondence, and contact with prospective students, applicants, and matriculating students.
  • Execute individualized and direct outreach and engagement with potential students.
  • Manage a large recruitment territory and plan targeted travel (approximately 6-8 weeks of fall travel and 1-3 weeks of spring travel are expected).
  • Expect several weeks of evening and weekend work in the winter and early spring.
  • Evaluate candidates for admission and make decisions on recommendations for admission and merit and specialty scholarships.
  • Communicate the value of a St. Lawrence education to students, parents, and counselors.
  • Share oversight for hiring, training, and supervising tour guides and/or other student workers.
  • Utilize electronic recruitment resources (we use Slate by Technolutions).
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an appreciation of the value of a liberal arts education and of diverse cultures.
  • Ability to make decisions using independent discretion and judgment.
  • Attention to detail, creative initiative, and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities and situations.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Highly organized and technically proficient.
  • Proven ability and confidence to work independently and with a wide variety of people.
