Purpose of Position

The College of Health and Human Services Professions is seeking applications for one full-time 12 month, non- tenure track renewable faculty position for Concentration Coordinator for the Psych- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track of the MSN Program in the School of Nursing. The position reports to the School of Nursing Program Director.
The search will remain open until the position is filled and will begin immediately.

Primary Responsibilities

The Concentration Coordinator is an APRN who is nationally certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and is responsible for the overall leadership of the PMHNP track. The Concentration Coordinator ensures that the curriculum is congruent with national standards for APRN education and that the program prepares graduates to meet edibility requirements to sit for the PMHNP certification exam. The position may include teaching responsibilities in the PMHNP track.

Professional Expectations:
· Maintain current RN and APRN certification/licensure
· Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development
Maintain currency in accreditation standards, KBN regulations, NONPF criteria and specialty concentration guidelines
· Maintain part-time clinical practice as needed to maintain APRN certification/licensure; Ensure clinical practice does not interfere with faculty duties
· Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress
· Adhere to MSN policies and faculty professional standards as delineated in the NKU Faculty Handbook
· Utilize Canvas email or nku.edu email for ALL course communications – encourages students to do the same
· Teach or precept as needed to meet program needs
Organizational Relationship:
· Workload assigned by the MSN Program Director
· Evaluated annually by the Associate School Director for the Graduate Nursing Program or Designee with input from the MSN Program Director and APRN Clinical Coordinator
· Communicate with MSN Program Director about course content and student issues
· Collaborate with Clinical Coordinator, faculty, and other departments

Program Leadership:
· Oversee and coordinate all specialty program needs with the direction of the MSN Program Director and in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator
· Represent interests of the specialty concentration to the MSN Program Director and the Associate School Director for Graduate Nursing
· Participate in program success related to admission, progression, MSN curriculum, and orientation for students enrolled (or applying to) in specialty concentration
· Review the curriculum annually (at a minimum) to assure the ACCN Essentials, NONPF Competencies and Specialty Competencies are included and the content is current
· Suggest changes to curriculum and forward to the MSN Program Director for review
· Provide support and data for accreditation materials
· Maintain and update specialty Concentration Canvas organization shell
· Ensure course summaries are completed and submitted for concentration each term
· Ensure syllabi are loaded into Digital Measures each term for concentration courses
· Recommend and participate in concentration specific faculty, site and preceptor recruitment

Faculty Leadership:

• Collaborate with the MSN Program Director and Associate School Director for Graduate Programs to review faculty, course and clinical experience needs based on projected student enrollment
• Promote faculty professional development and program success

· Coordinate with the MSN Program Director on faculty teaching assignments within the specialty as needed
· Contribute to the evaluation of faculty within the specialty concentration
· Mentor concentration faculty

Communication:

• Communicate concentration status to the MSN Program Director on a regular basis

· Communicate faculty, program, course, curriculum, and student issues to the MSN Program Director
· Respond to requests from the compliance and contracts, admissions and advising
· Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure expectations are clear to faculty, students and preceptors

• Ensure all student-facing information is current and correct (i.e., handbooks, websites)

Other duties include:

• Complete student VOE for ANCC certification/letters for AANP and other program forms
• Complete letters of good standing, dismissal for students and other program letters
• Utilize Medatrax to monitor student clinical experiences

· Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress

• Other duties as assigned

Required Training:
· Complete ‘Best Practices for Online Teaching’ Canvas course as assigned
· Complete required Faculty Development courses annually
· Complete Clinical systems training currently used in program (i.e., Medatrax)

Qualifications

· MSN with Advanced Practice Certification in a nurse practitioner specialty required
· Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field preferred
· Equivalent of a minimum 2 years of fulltime practice in APRN specialty; 5 years nursing practice
· Previous graduate level and online teaching preferred
· Must possess a valid unencumbered registered nursing license and advanced practice license
· Familiar with the clinical requirements for MSN students
· Familiar with and/or ability to manage computer programs related to MSN clinical programs
· Pass pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law
