Job Description
The Missouri School of Journalism seeks applications for an On-Air Host for KBIA - an Edward R. Murrow national award-winning radio station and a working laboratory for students at the University of Missouri.
KBIA News (91 . 3 FM) is an award-winning, innovative newsroom located in the university town of Columbia, on the campus of the oldest journalism school in the world, the Missouri School of Journalism . The station serves a 70-mile listening area, which includes more than 40,000 listeners in 14 counties .
Primary responsibilities include hosting KBIA radio programs, recording, producing, and editing audio for on-air features, with time available for feature reporting or other projects. This position will also be called on to produce on-air promotional materials, record automated weekend and overnight breaks, train student and volunteer announcers, and staff fund drives. A significant portion of this role includes working with student newscast anchors. Up to 25% of this position’s time may be tailored to the individual producer’s interests and talents that align with KBIA’s mission, and might include activities like features reporting, producing podcasts or other programming, editing, community engagement, event planning, podcast development, etc.
Salary
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Salary Range: $16.92 - $18.50/ hour

Shift
Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some nights and weekends
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary .
Preferred Qualifications
Public media on-air experience, air check is required, and experience with on-air fundraising is desirable.
